A Cut Above

A Cut Above was our first documentary as a team. We made it with the intention of learning the craft of documentary filmmaking and sharing the interesting regional subculture of Lumber Jacking with a broader audience. We focused mostly on Wisconsin and both the rarity and growth of women and indigenous people in the sport. Our humble little thirteen minute film owes everything to the incredible interviews that our phenomenally talented film subjects so generously gave. A Cut Above ended up being featured in ten different film festivals in seven different states, being nominated for four awards, winning two awards, and being licensed for use by two universities.

Money Tree
What’s a tree worth? From the point of view of a city forester, an ecologist, a firewood harvesting hobbyist, a professor and a philanthropist, we learn about the different relationships people have with their urban forest. Money Tree explores the tangible and intangible values and the importance of this urban biodiversity that often goes unnoticed.
